Jonea talks about her new album “Open Diary” and her inspiration to do music
Hard ,cold, and relentless are all terms that can be used to describe the streets and also the musical soundscapes for new comer Jonea. The hardcore music is the perfect backdrop for a voice tinged with pain yet resonating with vibrant hope. The Floridian who now calls Atlanta home seems quite comfortable lacing rap beats with her smooth as velvet vocals. Each song on Jonea‘s debut Open Diary intends to give you a glimpse into the depths of her being and succeeds in doing so. Citing Aaliyah and Beyonce as inspirations, Jonea‘s sound captures a bygone era, while pushing the boundries of R&B. If the videos for her lead off single Moments Of Peace and follow up Im dat Woman are any indication of the energy she possess, Jonea‘s stage show must be a sight to see. Hopefully in the future this writer will have an opportunity to find out for himself. Until then having Open Diary on repeat will have to suffice.
