Da Internz’ Artist Aaron Michael Cox Dies from Cancer, Memorial Set

By Bryant Gilmore

On Friday, July 13th, singer-songwriter Aaron Michael Cox, died from testicular cancer. Diagnosed in June, the cancer quickly spread and took his life before Cox had a chance to start treatment. He was working with producing powerhouses Da Internz, who have served up hits for Rihanna, Big Sean, Ludacris, Justin Bieber, and Rihanna’s ex and some-time collaborator, Chris Brown.

Cox seemed poised to go on to great commercial and critical success as he had worked with Nas and Ludacris in the past and at his passing, had signed a publishing deal and was in the process of singing to a record label. He released his first single, “Walk Away,” a soulful ballad with a Motown-esque vibe, back in April to great reviews. Tonight, at 6:30pm (PST) a memorial will be held at the Universal Music Publishing Group Offices in Santa Monica, Ca. All family, friends, and supporters are invited to come out in remembrance of Aaron’s life.

Fans first learned of Cox’s death when Da Internz announced it via Twitter last Saturday. On Monday, they told of the memorial and asked their followers to re-tweet to spread the word, saying that further details were to follow in later tweets. Then yesterday, Da Internz took the time to tweet their thanks from the outpouring of love and condolences they’ve received from fans, and the artists and musicians who’ve helped put together Aaron’s memorial.
