OMG. I’m so proud to live in a part of history in which no know was beat my L.A. polices and the cops were declared innocent (Rodney King). I’m so proud to live in a part of history in which our people aren’t saying “yes massa no massa, that’s our food massa.” Yet not annoying that part of history, the part of history that I celebrate today is hip hop history. And Def Jam Records is indeed Hip Hop. Having been founded 25 years old, pioneered by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin, Def Jams brought us the greats in hip hop from L.L. Cool J., Run DMC., to now hip hop moguls such as DMX, Ja Rule, Jay Z, and even the G-Funk mastermind himself, Warren G. Though over several decades, having had several music vets to run the label, such as L.A. Reid, Sean ‘Jay Z’ Carter himself, and now CEO Barry Weiss, Def Jam has been nothing less than successful. Happy 25 Def Jam.
